Notre histoire est \u00e9troitement li\u00e9e \u00e0 notre homonyme, Verne Q. Powell. Bijoutier de profession, Powell s\u2019est fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 une fl\u00fbte en 1910 \u00e0 partir de n’importe quel argent qu’il pouvait se procurer, y compris des dollars en argent, des bo\u00eetiers de montre et des cuill\u00e8res. Cet incroyable exploit de m\u00e9tallurgie lui a valu un emploi dans une autre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de fl\u00fbte \u00e0 Boston. Il y a travaill\u00e9 jusqu’en 1926, partant pour cr\u00e9er sa propre soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Son objectif \u00e9tait de produire les meilleures fl\u00fbtes fran\u00e7aises du monde. La cr\u00e9ation de sa propre entreprise lui a donn\u00e9 la libert\u00e9 de se consacrer au d\u00e9tail et \u00e0 l’art.<\/p>\n

Les instruments ont \u00e9t\u00e9 imm\u00e9diatement reconnus comme \u00e9tant les meilleurs qu’un fl\u00fbtiste puisse jouer et il a re\u00e7u les encouragements des fl\u00fbtistes du monde entier. En 1928, il a termin\u00e9 sa premi\u00e8re fl\u00fbte en or 14 carats, bient\u00f4t suivie de piccolos et de fl\u00fbtes alto. En 1930, la marque \u00e9tait repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans les orchestres de Boston, Detroit, Philadelphie, Cleveland, Baltimore et New York. Il y avait des fl\u00fbtes qui avaient une vie propre ; # 365 la fl\u00fbte en platine \u00ab\u00a0World’s Fair\u00a0\u00bb de William Kincaid, # 900 la seule fl\u00fbte jamais fabriqu\u00e9e enti\u00e8rement en or blanc 14 carats, # 1142 la fl\u00fbte \u00ab\u00a0Signature\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Au fil des d\u00e9cennies, l’innovation est devenue la marque de fabrique de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Powell. La premi\u00e8re entreprise \u00e0 commercialiser l’\u00e9chelle Cooper, la premi\u00e8re soci\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 m\u00e9langer l’argent et l’or avec la fl\u00fbte Aurumite, la premi\u00e8re \u00e0 en fabriquer avec de l’or rose 19,5 carats.<\/p>\n

Les fl\u00fbtes des s\u00e9ries 2100 et 3100 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 90, menant finalement aux premi\u00e8res fl\u00fbtes Conservatory. La premi\u00e8re fl\u00fbte Conservatory a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9voil\u00e9e en 2002 pour la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration du 75e anniversaire de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d’un autre nouvel instrument, la fl\u00fbte Powell Sonar\u00e9. Un an plus tard, la fl\u00fbte Signature a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e. 2005 et 2006 ont vu de tous nouveaux styles d’embouchures : Soloist et Venti. En 2007, Powell a brevet\u00e9 une nouvelle m\u00e9thode d’extrusion des trous de tonalit\u00e9 qui est encore utilis\u00e9e aujourd’hui. La seule fl\u00fbte fabriqu\u00e9e \u00e0 la main et jou\u00e9e dans l’espace, l’astronaute de la NASA Cady Coleman a apport\u00e9 sa fl\u00fbte Powell sur la Station spatiale internationale en 2011<\/p>\n

En 2016, Verne Q. Powell Flutes, Inc. a \u00e9t\u00e9 achet\u00e9e par Buffet Crampon, rejoignant neuf autres marques d’instruments \u00e0 vent pour compl\u00e9ter le plus grand groupe de fabricants d’instruments \u00e0 vent du monde.<\/p>\n

2017 marque le 90e anniversaire de cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de fabrication de fl\u00fbte typiquement am\u00e9ricaine. Fond\u00e9e en 1927 par Verne Q. Powell lui-m\u00eame, les 90 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9es par l’innovation, la modernisation et le d\u00e9vouement \u00e0 l’art.<\/p>\n
